Education

Every child deserves the chance to learn – even in war

Bringing joy, hope, and learning to children living through conflict.

Why Education and play?

Every child deserves the chance to learn, no matter where they are or what they’ve been through.

When war breaks out, it’s often children who suffer the most. They lose their homes, their safety, their routines, and far too often, they lose access to education.

When homes are destroyed, families are displaced, and lives are uprooted by war, education is often one of the first things to be lost and one of the hardest to regain.

In conflict zones, accessing learning can be life changing.

That’s why ReliefAid prioritises education alongside food, water, and shelter. We get children playing and learning, and help families keep them there, because education is not a luxury. It’s a right, and it’s essential for recovery and future stability.

ReliefAid’s education programmes in Syria and Afghanistan, and Summer Camps in Ukraine are ensuring children reclaim a part of their childhood, even in the darkest of times.

Education in conflict zones is about more than school. It’s a chance for children to build resilience, form friendships, dream of a better future and just be children again.

Parents living through conflict want the same things all parents do – safety, opportunity, and a future for their children. Your donation or fundraiser can make that future possible!

BounceBack4Syria

Give a Syrian child something to smile about

In the displacement camps of Northwest Syria, schools no longer exist. Classrooms have been replaced with tents, and pencils swapped for pebbles. Yet even in the rubble of war, children still want to learn and play.

BounceBack4Syria brings joy, learning, and hope to children living through unimaginable hardship, through the transformative power of resilience fostering, play-based education.

Ukraine summer camps & events

A safe space to heal, play and dream

In Ukraine, the war has stolen homes, schools, friends, and the sense of safety every child needs. Our Summer Camps give children a break from the constant stress of conflict, a place to feel safe, make friends, and build resilience for the future.

Through games, art, music, and group activities, camp volunteers help children process their experiences and strengthen coping skills.

With children, we talk about the war indirectly, but the main impact is that they lost their homes, their usual way of life, their school friends, and they often remember this.

We also run special events like Christmas parties and distributions. In the middle of war, something as simple as a hat, a sweet treat, or a Christmas tree can bring back a sense of normalcy, and remind children they have not been forgotten.

Your support could mean more children in Ukraine experience moments of joy, hope, and connection, even in the toughest times.
