“We Pray This War Will Stop”: Lebanese Families Show Strength Amid Hardship
Farms and livelihoods gone.
In southern Lebanon, families who once relied on farming and the land for their survival are now facing unimaginable hardship as conflict continues to devastate their communities.
“Our village relies on agriculture,” one displaced resident, Akram shared. “Nearly 95% of the people are farmers. Whether it is livestock or the land itself, everything has been affected.”
Ongoing shelling and gunfire have made it too dangerous for farmers to reach their fields and animals. Several people have already been injured trying to access their land and livelihoods. Families have been forced to flee their homes, leaving behind not only possessions, but generations of work and stability.
Now the situation has become one of extreme hardship. I know people who are struggling just to eat.…Thank God, we came to this centre.
For many displaced families, access to food, milk, medicine and basic essentials has become a daily struggle. Children need diapers and medication. Elderly people require ongoing care. Food insecurity affects every part of life.
Through ReliefAid’s food distributions, families are receiving urgently needed support, and for many, it is making a profound difference.
You could help families like Akram’s by donating. Just $25 helps a family survive.
The young are being provided with meals, milk and food, so their health improves,” they explained. “The elderly as well — when meals and food are provided, their health is good.
One moment stood out deeply for the Akram when receiving the food packages.
“I felt it was a heavy carton,” they said. “It was the first time, honestly, that we received such a carton. It means a lot to us. It contains food supplies. ”
Despite everything they have endured, their message was not one of bitterness, but gratitude and hope.
May God bless you all. We are grateful for this gathering and this wonderful gesture.
And like so many families displaced by war, they continue to hold onto one simple wish:
We pray that this war will stop, so everyone can return to their homes, return to their work, return to their land.
